Book – Parížske Denníky - Paris Diaries

Márius Maták: Luka Brase a jeho parížske denníky - Luka Brase et ses journaux parisiens. The successful Slovak painter and globetrotter Luka Brase recently completed creative residencies at the renowned Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. Upon his return, he met with art historian and curator Márius Maták. Both realized that, given the abundance of working material, preparing an exhibition might not be the ideal route. They also acknowledged that while the primary role of the artist is to draw and paint, it is equally the domain of the art historian to write. This led to the idea of the Paris Journals, a mosaic that Luka Brase would compose through his paintings—so that Márius Maták could write them “for him, through him, and on his behalf.” The journals from this iconic city have been fully translated into French, which is truly exceptional in today’s English-dominated world. The publication was released in a standard print run and will be available in selected bookstores. However, for collectors, an exclusive edition is offered in a high-quality bookbinding case, which also includes two original artworks by the artist.
